Challenge
The client produced over 250 precision cutting tools for aerospace, medical and automotive machining. Their website was a German-language brochure with a single multi-hundred-page PDF catalog that engineers refused to scroll through on the shop floor. Specifications such as tolerances, coating types and material compatibility were buried in PDFs, and North American buyers had no English version to read before calling the Swiss sales line.
Solution
We rebuilt the site as a multilingual product platform in German, English and French. Each tool family received its own product page with a structured spec table (diameter, tolerance, coating, shank, recommended work materials), a one-click datasheet PDF download, and an inquiry form pre-filled with the product reference. DACH and North American inquiries were routed to the correct sales contact with the right address format and legal disclaimer per market.
Technical Approach
Static site generation backed by a headless CMS where product engineers maintain tool data in a structured table; the same data drives both the on-page spec table and the generated PDF datasheets. i18n routing under /de/, /en/ and /fr/ with correct hreflang annotations covering DE, AT, CH and EN-US. Product pages use schema.org Product structured data so tool specs appear in rich results, and all datasheets are linearized PDFs optimized for fast web view.
Results
Within four months, qualified technical inquiries were up 58% as engineers in DACH and North America could self-serve specs before contacting sales. Mobile PageSpeed improved from 39 to 96 after static generation and WebP image delivery, and product page bounce rate dropped by 42% because buyers finally landed on the exact tool page they were searching for. Sales engineering time spent answering basic spec questions was roughly halved.
